The United States has claimed that Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as “Niño Guerrero,” the top leader of the notorious criminal organization Tren de Aragua, has been killed in a military operation conducted in Venezuela.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that it was a “swift and targeted military operation” carried out on one of the group’s bases. According to him, the operation dealt a major blow to the gang’s leadership.

The U.S. Department of Defense reported that the clash occurred during an operation in the Bolívar region of southeastern Venezuela, where the gang leader was killed. Footage allegedly taken from the air during the operation showed an explosion at a building.

The Venezuelan government also confirmed that the gang leader was killed during an armed confrontation in the operation. The country’s security forces have long been engaged in conflict with local criminal groups in the region.

U.S. authorities allege that Tren de Aragua has long been involved in murder, extortion, drug trafficking, and other organized crimes. The gang is internationally regarded as a major criminal network.

The organization originated in a prison in Venezuela and later expanded across several South American countries. It is accused of spreading its influence by taking advantage of migration crises.

The United States has been conducting operations against the gang for a long time and had previously announced financial rewards for information leading to its leaders.
