A remarkable humanitarian initiative has been carried out by Lions Club of Dhaka Diligent, setting an inspiring example of community service. Alongside organizing the “Gopalpur Book Fest 2026,” the club arranged a free eye camp at Gopalpur Uttar Government Primary School to identify elderly cataract patients.

On April 10, 2026, a specialist medical team from Lions Eye & General Hospital conducted the day-long camp, where a total of 11 cataract patients were initially selected for treatment.
Following this, the Lions Club took swift action to arrange surgeries for the selected patients on April 23, 2026. On April 22, the patients were transported from Gopalpur to Dhaka through dedicated arrangements. Among them, 8 patients from Gopalpur and Aitola villages agreed to undergo the surgeries free of cost.

The operations were successfully carried out today between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM under the supervision of expert doctors. All procedures were completed without complications, bringing renewed hope for improved vision to the patients.

This compassionate initiative has been widely appreciated by the local community. Organizers have expressed their commitment to continuing such efforts in the future to ensure accessible healthcare for underprivileged people.

Everyone is kindly requested to keep the patients in their prayers for a full recovery and restored eyesight.
