Located in the central part of the country, it includes the capital city, Dhaka, which serves as the political, economic, and cultural heart of the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ancient Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The history of Dhaka dates back many centuries. Long before the Mughal era, the region was known for trade, river-based commerce, and growing settlements. Due to its strategic location near major rivers, Dhaka gradually became an important center of communication and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rise During the Mughal Period<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dhaka gained major prominence during the Mughal rule in the early 17th century. In 1608, Mughal governor Islam Khan Chishti shifted the capital of Bengal from Rajmahal to Dhaka. The city was then renamed \u201cJahangirnagar\u201d in honor of Emperor Jahangir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During this period, Dhaka became famous worldwide for its high-quality muslin fabric, which was exported to different parts of Asia and Europe.
